The Old Pump House at Chimney Field House was originally a water treatment works for the local village of Methven. It processed water which was drawn from a reservoir further up the valley towards Glenalmond.

The tall black cylinder in picture five below was a pressure vessel which was used to take pulses of pressure out of the system so the old cast iron pipes didn't split. The cylinder was half filled with air which was compressed under pressure. 

As far as we have been able to find out the building was constructed in the 1930's and was in use through to the 1960's, after which it was abandoned and eventually became derelict. Cattle and horses kept in the field would shelter inside. It was purchased in 2016 as part of the plot for Chimney Field House and was renovated and and converted to a holiday home in 2020.
